Opportunity. Hope. Love.
We believe in providing opportunity.
With opportunity comes inspiration and hope for a better future.
Aahana was started when a young, American born Indian girl visited the place where her parents were raised. She soon felt the pain of a starving mother carrying her crying baby and the suffering of four orphaned siblings. The suffering she saw and the stories she heard of her parents' childhoods would forever change her life.
And so, Aahana meaning "the first rays of sun" began. We believe that each child and woman is just that, equal under the first rays of the sun. Indian women and children for years have been belittled, not because they are not able, but because they never had an opportunity. Opportunities, hope, and love is what Aahana hopes to provide to hundreds of young women and children across India.
With our first partner school for disabled children in Gujarat, India, our journey begins.
